BEACON to host Workshop at ESOCC 2015 (Call for Papers)

We are very pleased to announce that BEACON is to host a workshop at the 'Fourth European Conference on Service-Oriented and Cloud Computing' (ESOCC), on 15th September 2015.

Organised by the MDSLab of the University of Messina, ESOCC is the premier conference on the advances in the state of the art and practice of Service-Oriented Computing and Cloud Computing in Europe, this year being held in Taormina (Messina), Italy.

The main objectives of this conference are to facilitate the exchange between researchers and practitioners in the areas of SOC and Cloud Computing and to foster future collaborations in Europe and beyond. ESOCC 2015 will include invited talks, presentations of selected research papers, industrial, business model (BM) and work in progress (WIP) tracks papers with the participation of top researchers from academia and industry. ESOCC 2015 will also include a PhD Symposium and a series of satellite workshops.

The BEACON Project will organise a workshop called 'Federated Cloud Networking'. Cloud federation enables cloud providers to collaborate and share their resources to create a large virtual pool of resources at multiple network locations. To support this scenario, it is necessary to perform research on techniques to federate cloud network resources, enabling the instantiation and provisioning of networks across geographically dispersed clouds, and to derive the integrated management cloud layer that enables an efficient and secure deployment of federated cloud applications. This workshop will allow researchers to present their latest research results on federated cloud networking, including SDN technology, overlay networks and traffic engineering.

Topics will include:

  • Cloud network federation models and architectures
  • Cross Datacenter SDNs
  • NFV for Cloud network federation
  • Datacenter Interconnect solutions
  • Traffic engineering for Cloud network federation
  • Overlay networks and VPNs
  • Security in Cloud network federations
  • Geographic location-¬≠aware high availability and elasticity
